Types of Braids
Braiding has expanded into a rich art form, offering countless styles for every hair type and mood. T&T Hair Spa offers braid services, hair, products, accessories, and removal services. Here are some popular braid styles we specialize in at Tendrils and Twigs:

Boho Braids (Bohemian Braids)
Boho braids are the ultimate blend of bohemian chic and protective styling. They mix in loose, curly or wavy pieces that give a soft, romantic, and effortless look. They offer a carefree vibe, perfect for clients who love a mix of neat structure and natural flow.
Boho Braids are perfect for those who love effortless beauty. Lightweight and versatile, Boho Braids give you that vacation-ready, goddess energy all year long.

Faux Locs
Faux locs mimic the look of real dreadlocks but without the long-term commitment. They are created by wrapping synthetic or human hair around natural hair or braids, giving the appearance of matured locs. Faux locs come in various textures and finishes — from silky and smooth to distressed and natural. They’re low-maintenance, protective, and can last up to 16 weeks when cared for properly. This style is perfect for clients who love the bohemian, earthy vibe of locs but still want the freedom to remove them later. We offer faux loc touchup and removal services.

Senegalese Twists
Originating from Senegal in West Africa, Senegalese Twists (also called Rope Twists) are smooth, sleek, and sophisticated. They’re made using Kanekalon or Toyokalon synthetic hair, twisted into neat, rope like strands. This style gives a polished, elegant appearance and is great for professional or formal looks while still protecting natural hair. Senegalese Twists are versatile they can be worn long, short, or even in updos and they last for 6–8 weeks with proper care. They’re a go-to choice for clients who want a refined yet easy-to-manage protective style. This style requires stretching and blending of the natural hair, so extra care is needed to maintain this hairstyle.

JadedxTiger Locs
This creative look is a blend of braids, twists, locs, bubbles, butterfly braids, curls, beads, jewels, and love! This look is exclusive to our salon and requires a consultation to book. This style usually lasts 8-10 weeks
Fulani Braid
Fulani Braids are inspired by the Fulani people of West Africa, known for their signature mix of cornrows, beads, and decorative patterns. Typically, they feature a central braid running down the middle of the head, with side cornrows and free-hanging braids often adorned with shells or beads. Fulani Braids can be worn for weeks, are gentle on the scalp, and express individuality and heritage with every design. This style lasts about 6-8 weeks

Crochet braids
Crochet braids (also called latch hook braids) are one of the most versatile and time-saving protective styles. The technique involves crocheting pre-looped hair extensions into cornrows using a crochet hook, allowing endless texture options from curly and wavy to straight or Afro-kinky.Crochet styles are lightweight, natural-looking, and easy to install or remove. We offer clients the freedom to change their look frequently without stressing their natural hair. Perfect for busy individuals who want style variety with low maintenance. This style lasts 8-10 weeks
Cornrows and Feed ins
Cornrows are one of the most classic and historically rich braid styles. The hair is braided close to the scalp in continuous raised rows, creating clean, geometric patterns. Cornrows can be simple or intricate, depending on the design, and are ideal for both protective wear and styling versatility. At Tendrils and Twigs we offer very durable, timeless, and deeply symbolic styles representing community, identity, and heritage. These styles can last anywhere from 1-6 weeks depending on the size and thickness.

Care and Maintenance Tips: Keeping Your Braids Beautiful and Healthy
At Tendrils and Twigs, we believe that beautiful braids begin with healthy hair. A protective style should protect, not stress your strands or scalp. Whether you’re wearing box braids, faux locs, or cornrows, consistent maintenance and scalp care are essential to retain moisture, prevent buildup, and promote growth. Here’s how we care for your braids in-salon and how you can maintain that salon-fresh look at home.
1. Scalp Cleansing and Detox Treatments
Braids reduce manipulation but can trap buildup from oils, sweat, and environmental residue. At Tendrils and Twigs, we offer gentle scalp cleansing and detox treatments that refresh your roots without disturbing your braids.
Our stylists use sulfate-free cleansing sprays or micellar-based scalp rinses formulated to lift impurities while keeping the scalp balanced. These treatments help:
Prevent dandruff and flakiness
Reduce itchiness and odor
Support natural hair growth
At-home tip: Between visits, use a diluted apple cider vinegar rinse, witch hazel, or T&T Hair Spa's Scalp Refresher once every 1–2 weeks. Apply directly to your scalp, massage gently with your fingertips, and blot dry with a towel — no heavy rubbing!

2. Hydration and Moisture Retention
Braided styles can lead to dryness if not properly moisturized. The key is to hydrate both your hair and scalp. In-salon, we use lightweight, water-based leave-in sprays infused with ingredients like aloe-vera, rose water, and glycerin, followed by a sealing oil such as jojoba, argan, or grapeseed oil.
This moisture layering technique keeps the hair underneath soft, prevents brittleness, and adds sheen to your braids.
Salon Tip: At Tendrils and Twigs, we provide a “Braid Moisture Mist” product, a nourishing scalp and braid refresh treatment ideal for clients with protective styles longer than 3 weeks.
At-home tip: Mist your braids lightly 3–4 times a week using a hydrating braid spray or rosewater. Avoid heavy oils that can clog follicles or leave residue. We also offer walk-in services for clogged follicles, dandruff, and refreshing braids.
3. Tension-Free Edges and Scalp Comfort
Tight braids may look sleek at first, but long-term tension can cause traction alopecia, especially around the hairline. Our stylists at Tendrils and Twigs are trained to create tension-free braids that secure your hair without stressing your scalp.
We pay close attention to:
The direction of parting
The thickness of each braid
The elasticity of your natural hair
Salon Service: Our “Tension Relief & Edge Therapy” includes a soothing scalp massage using natural oils like peppermint and tea tree to calm the skin and improve circulation.
At-home tip: If your scalp feels sore or inflamed, apply a warm compress or use aloe vera gel along the hairline to soothe irritation.

4. Night time Protection
Friction is the enemy of neat braids. Sleeping without proper protection can lead to frizz, dryness, and tangling of extensions.
We recommend wrapping your braids in a silk or satin scarf or bonnet every night. These materials minimize moisture loss and prevent your style from fuzzing out prematurely.
At-home tip: If scarves aren’t your thing, invest in a satin pillowcase — perfect for effortless overnight protection.
5. Regular Refresh and Salon Maintenance
Even the most beautiful braids need a little love over time. To keep your look neat and your scalp healthy, we suggest scheduling a salon braid refreshing every 4–6 weeks.
Our maintenance sessions at Tendrils and Twigs include:
Gentle cleansing of your scalp
Hydration treatment
Edge and nape touch-ups
Frizz control and braid tightening
Our professional refresh not only extends the lifespan of your braids but also keeps your natural hair nourished and ready for your next style.
6. Proper Takedown and Post-Braid Care
The removal process is just as important as installation. Tugging or improper detangling can cause breakage. We offer braid takedown and deep restoration treatments to safely remove your braids while strengthening your natural hair.
We follow this up with:
A detox shampoo to remove buildup
A deep conditioning mask with amino acids and keratin
A steam hydration session to restore elasticity and shine
At-home tip: After braid removal, give your hair a 1–2 week break before your next protective style. Use strengthening treatments like rice water rinses or protein-based masks to rebuild the hair’s structure.
7. Scalp Health = Hair Growth
Healthy braids begin at the scalp. A clean, moisturized scalp creates the ideal environment for growth. Our stylists recommend regular scalp massages both in salon and at home to boost blood flow and oxygen to the follicles.
Salon Service Highlight: Our “Growth Boost Scalp Therapy” combines peppermint, rosemary, and castor oils in a warm blend that stimulates dormant follicles and nourishes roots — a must for clients wearing long-term protective styles.
